Step 1: Unbox Your Trezor
Start by carefully unboxing your Trezor hardware wallet. Check the contents of the package to ensure you have:
- Your Trezor device (Model One or Model T)
- USB cable
- Recovery seed cards
- User manual or quick-start guide
Ensure the packaging is sealed properly. If you suspect tampering, contact Trezor Support immediately.
Step 2: Visit Trezor Suite
Go to the official Trezor Suite interface at:
This is the secure web-based or downloadable application that connects to your Trezor and allows you to manage your crypto assets.
Step 3: Connect Your Trezor Device
Using the provided USB cable, connect your Trezor to your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions in Trezor Suite:
- Install the latest firmware if prompted
- Allow USB communication if your OS requests permission
Step 4: Create a New Wallet
After initializing your Trezor, choose to Create a new wallet. Your device will generate a new set of private keys stored securely on the device itself.
You will be asked to write down a 12- or 24-word recovery seed. This is crucial. Never take a screenshot or store it online. Use the provided recovery card and keep it safe offline.
Step 5: Set Up PIN Protection
You will now set a PIN code for your device. This prevents unauthorized access. The PIN must be entered on the Trezor device every time it’s connected.
Choose a PIN that’s hard to guess but easy to remember. If someone enters the wrong PIN too many times, the device will reset as a security measure.
Step 6: Start Using Your Wallet
You’re ready to go! You can now use Trezor Suite to:
- Send and receive cryptocurrencies
- View your portfolio balance
- Swap and exchange assets
- Manage tokens (ERC-20, etc.)
- Access DeFi and Web3 integrations securely
